Unfortunately fleas are one of those parasites that we cannot always avoid. Fleas generally wont move from animal to animal however the larvae will spread to your ferrets quite rapidly if there is an opportunity for them to do so.

A small treatment with a flea preventative such as Advantage, Frontline or Revolution will help keep fleas at bay but sometimes you will find that it doesn't slow them down.

If this is the case, bath your ferret in warm water (no shampoo) and most of the fleas will come off in the water, use a flea comb to remove those that don't.

Consult your vet for the correct product and dosage to use on your ferret if you decide to use a product such as Advantage as too much may cause illness.

It is recommended not to use other solutions such as flea shampoo or powders.
