Ferrets have oil sacks under their skin which emit a musky smell. Bathing a ferret too regularly will cause extra production of oils and will cause a yellowish tinge to their fur. Bathing should only be done about once a month to prevent excessive oils.
We have found that using a soap free shampoo is definitely the best option as it wont irritate your ferrets skin.
